Easy Cures for Chapped Lips

Dry, chapped, and unhealthy lips aren't sexy. It's truly a hassle having flaky lips. I should know this since I, myself, owns one. I've already tried a lot of cures but it just keeps coming back like there are days that my lips are okay and some days are just horrible. Anxious to find easy solutions, after searching the net, look what i've found? Some easy cures for chapped lips. Read along:

  1. For as long as your lips are dry, cracked, and painful, abstain from eating hot, spicy, and salty foods.
  2. If the weather is dry, windy, or very cold, make sure to use natural moisturizers to counter the unfriendly weather.
  3. Never lick your lips as this can even worsen the case.
  4. Drink a lot of water. A dehydrated body can easily cause the lips to dry-out.
  5. Avoid liquids that can dehydrate you like alcohol and other beverage that contains caffeine.
  6. Don't use any lip gel, balm, or lipstick that contains alcohol ingredients-these for sure can further make your chapped lips dryer. A good rule is to put on your lips only edible ingredients (this rule also works well for any other body care products, because the skin rapidly absorbs all contents of lotions and creams, both good and bad ). In other words, if you cannot eat it - do not put it either on your lips or on your skin!
  7. Keep your lips moisturized. You can use an oil-based lubricating cream, such as Aquaphor Healing Ointment, or lip balm containing petrolatum or beeswax.
Well, i'll try doing these recommended tips so I can kiss my chapped lips goodbye....

Stop your Ageing with this 24k Gold Facial

Vibrant and silky smooth skin spells beauty. Even if you are already in your mid 50's but still boasting a glowing skin, no one can identify your age. But how can one achieve this? Well, all you have to do is spend some cash in UMO's 24k Gold Facial. Yes a gold facial. Experts say that using precious metals on your skin can make you look younger.

Everybody whose interested in having a forever glowing skin and those who are age conscious can give this a try. Introducing the latest breakthrough in cosmetics and beautifications is the "GOLD LEAF FACIAL".

This Luxe 24-Karat gold facial claims to make use of the highest grade of gold leaf during its 80-minutes exercise. Before massaging, gold leaves are placed on face. UMO guarantees that the process would offer you firmer, brighter and suppler skin. UMO’s practice and logic of using metal has roots in the strong historical tradition. They say Cleopatra use to sleep in gold mask every night and Chinese empresses supposedly used gold rollers to massage their faces. Unlikely, gold is presently not used commonly as a part of modern day treatments for simple reason that it’s difficult to penetrate inside the skin. UMO shares that it has devised a technology that enables staff at the Charleston Place spa (venue where 24-karat gold facial is being done) in South Carolina to overcome the gold-penetration issue. Currently, it is not available in Britain but is enjoying its reach across the Atlantic at a value of £180 ($360).

Cultural tattoos and amazing body modifications

Trepanation

Trapanation is surgery of the skull where a hole is either drilled or scraped, exposing the dura mater. This process is used in medicine to trat subdural hematomas, but has been known throughout history as a form of extreme body modification. The practices has been known to be carried outh from Neolithic times, and has been seen as everything from the solution to enlightenment to a cure for epilepsy. In modern times, trepanation used as anything other than treatment for hematomas is seen as pseudoscience. Practitioners, however, see it as a way to "increase brain blood volume," and therefore improve all cognitive functions. There is no clinical proof of this happening. The goal for many self trapaners is to restore the "heartbeat in the brain," as it has often been noticed that a pulse can be seen in the brain following the opening of the skull.

Corsetting

Coresetting, or the act of modifying a woman's waist with the help of girdles and other devices achieved popularity from the 14th-19th centuries. The practice caused shallow breathing, venous system damage, hiatal hernias, fainting and organ problems.

Scarification

Scarification, the process of cutting the body to produce decorative scars is typically a cultural rite of passage for a number of indigenous tribes in places such as New Guinea, Australia and Africa. Scarification has been performed through time through cutting as well as burning. Obviously, scarification is imprecise because of the way different individuals react to scars. The depth of the cut, healing of the wound, and reaction of the individual all effect the end result.

Neck Rings

The practice of wearing neck rings is performed in a number of African and Asian cultures, and involves the application of metal rings to the neck causing the muscles of the neck to stretch, as well as causing deformation of the collar bones. Neck rings are seen as promoting an ideal of beauty in these cultures, a long neck, but the rings themselves produce more of an illusion of neck elongation than a real elongation of any vertebrae. Wearing the rings since childhood. the muscles of the neck are loosened, and the bone structure of the collar bones is modified in a way that makes the neck appear extended. The number of brass coils used also helps to amplify this effect. Contrary to popular belief, it is entirely possible to recover after having the rings removed, and while muscles are weakened and effected, removing the rings does not mean instant death.

Lip Slitting & Lip Disks

Many of the girls of the Mursi tribe in South Ethiopia live with a clay plate fixed into their lower lips. The plates are inserted over time with increasing diameter. The women of tribes who practice such methods also practice other types of body modifications such as scarring and extreme earings. Lip disks and body modifications of this sort are found in a number of different african cultures.

FOOT BINDING

Foot binding was practiced in China for nearly a thousand years, and began by binding the feet of young girls to restrict growth and cause foot deformity. The bound feet were often prone to infection, paralysis, and atrophy. There are many elderly Chinese women today who experienced the practice and experience disability as a result. The binding's purpose was to construct the ideal foot of beauty, the "lotus foot" which was a 3in long foot.

CRANIAL BINDING

When babies are young, as any parent knows, the skull is soft and malleable. It is possible to restrict the growth of the skull by putting pressure on it over time. In ancient times, this was accomplished with the use of binding and strapping boards to permanently alter the shape of the skull. Many anthropologists believe this type of body modification to be among the first practiced by humans, and is seen in historical records around the world. It can still be seen today in parts of Africa and South America

The Perfect Eyebrow Shape for YOU

Still not satisfied with how your eyebrows look? Actually, not all eyebrow shapes can compliment your face. That is why it is best to know the perfect arc you want your eyebrows to accentuate. This way, you can have that totally flattering effect.

Here are some tips that you should know for that dramatic eyebrow look:
  • consider both facial and eye types. The shape of the eyebrows affects the appearance of the eyes, as well as the face. Achieving the perfect shape depends mainly on your facial features.
  • Great eyebrows are a beauty essential and key element to a polished look.
  • Start with a professional brow consultation to work out the best shape for your face. The eyebrows shape is determined mainly by the bone structure of the face. The right shape will give you definition and provide an attractive frame for your face and eyes.
Read which eyebrow shapes are most appropriate for the different faces:

Angular shape

The angular shape is appropriate for those with round face. You can enhance this shape with shading and contouring of the eye makeup for elegance.

Rounded shape

The rounded shape is suitable for women with large eyes or wide forehead. The rounded eyebrows can enhance the eyes. The eyebrow should follow the frontal bone and be shaped to a taper.

Arched shape

The arced shape is very flattering for most women. It gives width and expression to the eye. It opens the eyes and help balance a prominent nose or a large mouth.

Low arched shape

The low arched shape works well for those with small forehead by giving the illusion of more length.

  • eyebrows-right-shape.jpgplace an orange stick in a straight line from the side of the nose to the liner corner of the eye; this is where the eyebrow should begin
  • place an orange stick from the side of the nose to the outer corner of the eye; this is where the brow should end

We know that creating the most flattering shape and arch of your eyebrows may be really hard, so go to a beautician. Once you get the perfect line and shape you want you will be able to maintain them by yourself.

  • high forehead - the arch of the eyebrow should be slightly elevated to create the illusion of a lower forehead
  • low forehead - the arch should be as low as possible to give more height to the forehead
  • wide set eyes - leave the eyebrows unplucked on the inner corners. You can extend the inner corners using eyebrow pencil.
  • close set eyes - if you want to make the eyes wider apart, you should pluck more from the inner corners and extend outer corners using eye pencil

*if you tweeze too much from the inner edge of the eyebrows it makes your eyes look smaller

*eyebrows should follow the line of the bone just above your eyes

*high arches are the best way to open up the eyes

*when tweezing grab each hair at the root and quickly yank in the direction of hair growth

*plucking too much from the bottom edge gives you a permanent look of surprise

*never pluck above the eyebrows

*pull hairs out in the direction of growth one at a time

*never pluck daily

*use a toothbrush or a clean mascara wand to brush the hairs

Love your Feet

Among the body parts, it is the feet that bears most of the abuses from your day to day activities. Why? Obviously, they are the ones that carries and brings you wherever you want to go, exposing them to varying harsh environments. Since your weight is supported by your feet, just imagine the strain they endure. With this, foot problems are just inevitable. Many problems of the foot are painful but mostly are treatable.

Here are some simple ways to make your feet happy:

  • Examine your feet daily for dryness, breaks in the skin, calluses, etc. Do this in a good light and, if your eyesight is poor, have someone do it for you.
  • Use a lanolin moisturizing cream for dry and cracked skin. If your feet perspire, dust lightly with talcum powder. Remove excess cream or powder from between your toes to avoid skin breakdown.
  • Wear shoes and socks that fit your feet and are comfortable and change your socks daily.
  • Exercise daily.
  • Wash your feet every day. Always test the water temperature with your wrist or elbow to avoid burning your feet, particularly if your circulation is poor. Pat - don't rub - your feet dry and be sure to dry between and under the toes.
  • Soaking your feet is soothing and beneficial, but never soak for more than ten minutes to avoid dry skin.
  • Cut or file your nails straight across and never shorter than the end of your toe. Use nail clippers, scissors, a rounded, diamond-chip nail file or an emery board.
With these enumerated ways, you can prevent possible foot problems as well as you can keep them always healthy.

GOT THE CURLZ?

It is said that our hair is our crowning glory. True enough, having smooth, silky and shiny hair really rocks! Good for you if you posses a natural straight hair. But if you got that curlz, kinkz, and waves, well, this calls for high maintenance. Curly hair is the worst enemy of most girls. Besides being hard to manage, curly hair is almost always out of control no matter how you tame it.

Here are some important tips you should know:

Top Tips For Curly Hair

Rather than fighting with your curly hair, learn how to work with it to make yourself beautiful. With these curly hair tips, you can take care of any style through proper naturally curly hair care.
Choose The Right Products
One of the biggest mistakes that those with naturally curly hair make is not using the right curly hair products. You need to choose conditioners and shampoos that are specially formulated for curly hair. Regular conditioners will weigh down the hair, creating flat, lifeless curls. Regular shampoos often do not contain enough moisture to bring curls to life. There are a variety of curly hair products on the market today, and those with curly hair must use shampoo and conditioner designed for their hair type. The same is true for moose, gel, or hair spray. Normal hair styling products will weigh down curly hair. This gives your hair a crunchy, fake look. This is not the best style for curly hair. Choose products that will control your curl, while letting your hair breathe and look alive.
Your Comb is Important
When combing curly hair, never comb it when it is dry. This will cause frizz and breakage of the hair. Also, avoid using combs or brushes that are narrow toothed. Instead, use a pick or a comb with wide teeth to brush through your curly hair. You may want to use a sealer before brushing to protect your hair from split ends.
